As the fourth quarter opened in Charlottesville, the cause looked completely lost for No. 22 Miami. The Hurricanes had lost their starting quarterback Jacory Harris, to an injury in the first half. The backup, Spencer Whipple, was yanked in favor of true freshman Stephen Morris. Virginia held a dominant 24-0 lead over Miami.
Miami Vs. Virginia, Live: Hurricanes, Once Down 24-0 In Fourth, Mounting Enormous Comeback
And all of a sudden, Miami woke up. With just over ten minutes left in the fourth quarter, Morris connected with Leonard Hankerson with a 29-yard touchdown pass. On the Hurricanes' next possession, Morris ran it in himself for a nine-yard scamper, bringing the score to 24-12.
Unfortunately for Miami, kicked Matt Bosher missed the extra point, requiring them to score two touchdowns. Bosher made up for his miss, though, by booting an onside kick and managing to recover the ball himself. Morris then immediately found Travis Benjamin for a 60-yard touchdown pass.
With minutes left, what once was a seemingly infallible 24-0 lead is now 24-19. Virginia now has the ball. Stay tuned to this StoryStream for further updates.
