On a day where Carlos Boozer injured his hand slipping and falling in his home, the news wasn't all bad for Bulls fans. It appears they have locked up promising center Joakim Noah for a good deal of time.
Report: Bulls, Joakim Noah Agree On Five-Year, $60 Million Extension
KC Johnson of the Chicago Tribune is reporting that Noah has agreed to a five-year, $60 million contract extension that will keep him in Chicago through the 2015-16 season. The deal reportedly includes some incentives, which were key in the two sides coming to an agreement.
The exact amount of the extension is unknown but believed to be in the $60 million range total. Incentives can take the deal higher, and a source said the inclusion of these incentives represented the breakthrough in negotiations.
This pretty much takes the Bulls out of the running for Carmelo Anthony. Noah was believed to be Denver’s target, and he is now virtually untradeable until the end of the season because he signed an early contract extension rather than waiting until he became a restricted free agent.
