Barcelona attacker Pedro Rodríguez will be sidelined for three weeks, it was reported today, after suffering a left hamstring tear in the Blaugrana’s weekend match against Mallorca.
Hamstring Tear To Keep Barcelona’s Pedro Out Three Weeks
The Spanish international will miss this week’s Euro 2012 qualifiers against Lithuania and Scotland, Barcelona’s October 16 match against league-leading Valencia, as well as Barça’s Champions League game against FC Copenhagen.
The injury occurred late in Sunday’s second half, with Pedro eventually replaced by Nolito.
Pedro has appeared in all six of Barcelona’s Primera Division matches this season, having failed to score after tallying 12 league goals last year.
The effect of the injury on Spain’s squad will be minimal, with Pedro typically serving a reserve’s role in the team. For Barcelona, the absence will likely be met with Andres Iniesta assuming a more attacking role, with Barcelona possibly starting Sergio Busquets and Javier Mascherano together in midfield.
