On ESPN MMA Live Kenny Florian made the announcement that he had verbally agreed to fight Evan Dunham at UFC 127.
Kenny Florian Announces UFC 127 Bout With Evan Dunham
Florian is coming off a one-sided decision loss to Gray Maynard at UFC 118. The bout was to crown a #1 contender for the lightweight title and Florian's performance caused UFC president Dana White to claim after the bout that Kenny Florian is a choke artist who doesn't perform in the biggest fights. Florian, predictably, took exception to the suggestion that he can't perform under the brightest lights despite his failures in title fights against Sean Sherk and B.J. Penn as well as his coming up short against Maynard.
Dunham, on the other hand, showed up in his biggest fights. At UFC 119 he was coming off a split decision win over Tyson Griffin. The 119 bout was against Sean Sherk who was returning from an extended layoff. Dunham clearly lost the first round but most fans feel he won the second two with aggressive submission attempts and striking flurries. Two of the three judges saw the fight for Sherk but the fight absolutely boosted Dunham in the eyes of most of the MMA community. Now, coming off his first career loss, Dunham looks to get back on the winning track and move toward a shot at the lightweight title.
