The often injured, but deadly when he’s fit, Arjen Robben is reportedly making progress on a hamstring injury that’s put him out of the Bayern Munich first team since the end of the World Cup. The now 26 year old winger first suffered the injury in a World Cup warm up game for the Netherlands, but recovered in time to assist in Holland’s World Cup final run.
Bayern Munich’s Arjen Robben Is Making Progress With Long-Term Injury
While it continues to look as if Robben is still some significant time away from returning to Munich’s starting lineup, he is now running again and has returned to Munich’s training ground. Robben’s Dutch manager at Munich Louis van Gaal has backed the pacy winger to make a return and in an interview with AD Sportwereld was quoted as saying:
“Robben has returned to a positive outlook on the whole. We are at least working towards a time when Arjen can play again”.
The news of Robben’s slow but sure progress comes as welcome bit of news for Bayern Munich and Dutch national team fans. Although they’ll take some solace in the fact that Robben is running again, it seems as if Robben’s competitive return date may still be unknown while the winger has been ruled out of any competitive action for the duration of 2010.
