Report: David Lee To Miss Two Weeks With Elbow Infection
Source told FOXSports.com Golden State forward David Lee expected to miss about 2 weeks with infected elbow. Spent last night in hospital.
Okay, so that's not so crazy. But here's what is crazy: Lee suffered that infection when his elbow accidentally collided with Knicks forward Wilson Chandler on Wednesday. Chandler had a couple teeth knocked into Lee's arm, which explains the infection. However, Lee actually finished up the game, playing through pain that rendered him to a hospital bed one night later. Here's how he described that night to Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle.
At 8 a.m., however, he woke up in excruciating pain with swelling in his forearm and biceps. By 8:30 a.m., Lee and head athletic trainer Tommy Abdenour were on their way to a Chicago emergency room.
The hospital started an IV and got Lee started on a series of antibiotics. During an X-ray, Lee said blood was dripping off both sides of the machine.
“Now I know what it feels like to give birth,” Lee said. “... I’m a pretty good interview when I’m on Vicodin, huh?”
Despite that pain, Lee scored 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Warriors to a 122-117 win over the Knicks. That’s toughness, folks.
