Newton struck first with a 31-yard touchdown run, but Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray responded with three touchdown passes of 31, 9, and 40 yards. So far, Murray is 6-for-9 with 121 yards through the air. The running game is posing a threat as well, with Washaun Easley and Caleb King combining for 46 yards on five carries.
Newton gave up a key interception early, but is 5-for-7 so far. Early in the second quarter, the Tigers mounted a drive that ended with a 4-yard touchdown run from Onterio McCalebb. With about nine minutes remaining in the first half, Georgia leads, 21-14.
