Monday Night Football in the NFL means the world will be watching you. For the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles, the world has already been watching all season. The two teams will meet in Washington on Monday night but the extra attention is nothing new.
Monday Night Football, Eagles Vs. Redskins: Michael Vick, Donovan McNabb Headline NFC East Matchup
The story lines in this one run deep. For the Redskins, it's about (who else?) Donovan McNabb. Will Mike Shanahan bench him again? Did they really cut the playbook in half for him? Can he beat his former team again? For the Eagles, it's about (who else?) Michael Vick. He took the starting job early in the year, didn't lose it to injury, and put up a solid performance last week against the Colts in a victory.
Vick says despite the extra pressure of Monday Night Football, he’s treating it as just another game.
“No, just another game to me, another game that we have to go out and win. It’s definitely going to be exciting. It’s always great to have a chance to play on Monday night. That’s what you dream of as a kid growing up watching Monday Night Football, so I’m definitely going to enjoy the moment, though.”
Once you get past all the hoopla of Monday Night Football, this is a game that has major divisional implications. It's never truly a must-win situation in Week 10 but it's getting close for the Redskins. They sit at 4-4 behind the 5-3 Eagles and 6-3 Giants. A loss puts them two games behind two teams which, in the NFC East, isn't the easiest of comebacks. A Redskins victory puts them right in the thick of things with a tiebreaker edge over the Eagles.
