Chelsea's injury woes continue to mount, with the Blues now facing the absence of captain John Terry. While on first blush some might think Terry is out simply to spend more time with best buddy Frank Lampard, it appears that the defender's injury is actually quite serious: Terry has a nerve problem in his right leg, rendering him not only unfit to play, but unable to even sleep.
Chelsea Defender John Terry To Miss Weeks Or Months With Nerve Problem
Terry has been playing with the problem since the end of last season. The pain was manageable up until Chelsea's match against Fulham, when he tried to win the ball against Clint Dempsey and the pain got much worse. While no one knows the exact amount of time Terry will be missing, it's likely anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.
Obviously, Chelsea supporters are hoping the recovery time is as short as possible. Against Sunderland, the Blues slotted in Paulo Ferreira at center back, despite the fact that he is traditionally a full back. While the 0-3 home defeat can't be pinned on John Terry's absence alone-the loss of Michael Essien, and the continued injury woes of Lampard, were certainly factors-using Ferreira as cover certainly didn't help matters.
