For a little while, it looked like LaSalle would give us our first top 25 loss of this young college basketball season. They were neck and neck with No. 17 Baylor for most of the game, and only trailed by two points with seven minutes to go. But as they did many times last year, the Bears closed the game strong.
LaSalle Vs. No. 17 Baylor: Quincy Acy Leads Bears To Narrow Victory
Baylor finished on a 20-12 run, scoring at will down the stretch in a 74-64 victory at home. Baylor's big men were just too much for La Salle throughout the game. Junior forward Quincy Acy had 25 points and 11 rebounds, and fellow forward Anthony Jones added 14 points on just seven shot attempts. Without LaceDarius Dunn, who is serving a three-game suspension, Baylor needs to rely on their big men, and that's just what they did in this game.
Aaric Murray led LaSalle with 17 points, but he needed 18 shots to get there. Forward Jerrell Williams added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Explorers. LaSalle shot just 41 percent from the field and allowed Baylor to hit 52 percent of their shots. Twenty-two Baylor turnovers kept LaSalle in it, but it just wasn't enough.
