Report: Signs point to Andrew Luck entering 2011 NFL Draft

Signs point to Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck entering the draft, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Let the fight for the first overall pick commence.

Luck’s coach, Jim Harbaugh, says his quarterback is ready for the NFL.

“He’s physically mature, he’s mentally mature. He’s got a rare talent,” Harbaugh told Tim Kawakami (who is an excellent columnist and journalist).

The key is that Harbaugh said Luck has to decide what's best for him and his family. While we've mentioned that Luck probably doesn't need the money to support this family, the NFL could institute a rookie salary cap. The first overall pick in 2011 should get a bigger contract than the six-year, $78 million deal ($50 million guaranteed) that Sam Bradford got this year.

Luck told the newspaper that he won’t think about the draft until after Stanford finishes its regular season on Nov. 27.Make sure to check out Kawakami’s story here for more on Luck’s thoughts on the draft process.

In other Luck news, he was named a semifinalist for the Walter Camp Award, given to college football’s player of the year.

Oh, anyone want a Luck scouting report? We might have one on the home computer. Just sayin.
