Adam Dunn became a free agent at the end of the season after contract negotiations with the Washington Nationals didn't really go anywhere. Word now has it that he's moving along in talks with other teams, with the Tigers showing very strong interest.
Adam Dunn Drawing Strong Interest From Tigers
Depending on who you believe, Dunn may be close to an agreement with Detroit, or Detroit may simply be the most interested of all potential teams. It’s doubtful that anything is imminent, but the Tigers do make sense as a destination, as they have an aggressive front office and a need in the lineup.
While Dunn has been resistant to serve as a designated hitter in the past, his poor defense makes him a gamble for any team in the National League, meaning a sufficiently big offer from an American League team could change his mind. The slugger seems cut out for the job, as he’s a husky guy with slow feet but a big bat. Dunn has homered at least 38 times for seven consecutive seasons and has a career slugging percentage of .521.
