Mike Tyson and Vampire Bill impersonator Luis Suarez has been offered a seven match ban for biting Otman Bakkal during last Saturday’s 0-0 draw with PSV Eindhoven. The Dutch FA (KNVB) have ruled Suarez’s bite as violent conduct and have come down hard on Suarez who has already been banned by his club Ajax for two matches.
Ajax Striker Luis Suarez Faces Seven Match Ban For Bite
Ajax has until late Wednesday afternoon to respond to the KNVB regarding the acceptance or rejection of the proposed seven match ban. If Suarez and Ajax believe the proposal to be too lengthy, they can deny the suspension which will then send the case to a disciplinary hearing on Thursday.
Widely criticized for his deliberate handball in the quarterfinals of the World Cup against Ghana, Suarez was lauded by his countrymen yet vilified by many in the world football community for his malicious act that ultimately sent Ghana crashing out of the World Cup and propelled Uruguay onto the semifinals.
After showing little remorse for the transgression, Uruguay were knocked out of the World Cup in the semifinals against the Netherlands while Suarez looked on from the sidelines suspended. Although the referee in Saturday’s match didn’t see the incident in real time, Bakkal pulled down his shirt to reveal a red mark on his collarbone and video of the incident is viral across the Internet.
While many around football see the incident to be a laughing matter, some even dubbing Suarez the ‘Cannibal of Ajax’, the Uruguayan should be punished extensively for his ridiculous behavior. Seven matches plus the two already delt to Suarez by Ajax would be sufficient enough punishment for his moment of madness.
