This year in men’s tennis has belonged to Rafael Nadal. With wins at the French Open, Wimbledon, and the U.S. Open, he completed his career Grand Slam and climbed to the world’s No. 1 ranking.
Roger Federer Beats Rafael Nadal To Win ATP World Tour Finals
But his perennial rival, Roger Federer, got the last laugh on the season — and served notice that he may not be done dominating the tennis world just yet.
Federer beat Nadal 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in the final of the ATP World Tour Finals, and as Busted Racquet’s Chris Chase notes, finished a red-hot end to his season by doing so. Since the U.S. Open, Federer is 17-2, and has summarily dispatched Nadal and Novak Djokovic, his closest rivals in the past few years.
And Federer will also be headed to the only major he won in 2010 to start his 2011 season. If ever he was gone, it will likely be clear before long that Roger Federer is “back.”
