Elena Dementieva Retires From Tennis To Start A Family
The 2008 Olympic women’s tennis champion, Elena Dementieva, announced her retirement last week. The 29-year-old Russian shocked the tennis world with her announcement, as she is one of the top players over the last decade to never win a grand slam.
In 2009, Dementieva made it to the semifinals of both the Australian Open and Wimbledon. The last year she made it to a grand slam final was in 2004 for the French Open and U.S. Open.
