Giants World Series Parade: Ticker Tape Tour Through San Francisco Celebrates Win Over Texas
This is the first time the Giants have ever brought a World Series trophy to San Francisco. In fact, San Franciscans haven’t celebrated any major sports championship since 1995, when the 49ers brought home the Lombardi Trophy.
The parade is to proceed down Market Street in the city’s financial district and end at the Civic Center, where City Hall is located. San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom will present the Giants with a key to the city.
Authorities are anticipating a huge turnout, and CBS 13 is reporting that fans were showing up to claim places along the parade route as early as 7:00 A.M. -- a full four hours before the parade is scheduled to start. City officials have recommended the use of public transit.
