Nebraska was supposed to have an easy time of it against Iowa State. Of course, the same was said last year. And for two straight years, the suppositions have been wrong.
Huskers In Trouble: No. 9 Nebraska Getting Game From Iowa State
After 17 straight third quarter points, Nebraska entered the fourth quarter with a 24-10 lead. Iowa State has since tied things up, scoring 14 points in 49 second of game clock thanks in part to a Nebraska fumble.
This isn’t what Nebraska wants or needs, especially after having the Big 12 North title all but sewn up entering today. But for the second season in a row, the Huskers might have a great season marred by a loss to Paul Rhoads’ Cyclones.
One thing that would have helped the Cornhuskers today is a healthy Taylor Martinez. The erstwhile Heisman candidate hasn't played thanks to a leg injury, and Cody Green has replaced him. That's effectively neutralized the passing game: Green has just 79 yards in the game.
The running game has been better: both Roy Helu Jr. and Rex Burkhead are within whispering distance of 100-yard outings.
