The 2010 ING New York City Marathon was the largest marathon ever run, with 45,344 lining up to race (or jog) the 26.2 miles through the city’s five boroughs. But fully grasping a mass of humanity running through New York, roughly equal in size to the population of Olympia, Washington’s capital city, is difficult to imagine.
