College Sports

- The reaction to the Big Ten’s announcement of its new logo and league division names yesterday ranged from underwhelmed to outright ridicule. Big Ten blog Off Tackle Empire initially reacted negatively to the rounded characters and color of the logo (“We just became Twitter . . . .“), and even though they got over that, they couldn’t approve of the “Legends” and “Leaders” division names. Maize n Brew did the same thing I did upon first seeing the logo (“Where’s the freaking 2 in this thing? I spent 15 minutes looking for it like a Where’s Waldo, but I don’t think it’s in there!“) and then coped by coming up with a humorous and fictitious list of league division names that didn’t make the cut.

- Alligator Army heaps praise on the “genuis” of Florida AD Jeremy Foley for grabbing a head-coach-in-waiting from a prestigious school and doing so at a discount so he has money left over to lure marquee coordinators, like say, Alabama DC Kirby Smart, to the new Gator staff.

- Track Em Tigers is just happy that Gus Malzahn is staying at Auburn, but concedes that the move may have more to do with Vandy than Auburn. That didn’t keep them from having a bit of fun at rival Alabama’s expense, though, posting the growing list of things Tide fans won’t be getting for Christmas this year.

Baseball

- Beyond the Boxscore has an interactive infographic of every MLB trade for the past five years. Yea, it’s awesome.

- Let’s Go Tribe says the Indians should dangle Fausto Carmona in front of the Yankees now that New York has lost out on Cliff Lee.

- Bucs Dugout reacts to the Pirates signing of Lyle Overbay to be their starting first baseman.

- DRaysBay has an exclusive interview with top prospect Alex Cobb.
