Auburn Tigers QB Cam Newton has won yet another honor, being named the Associated Press College Football Player of the Year. The AP panel cast 60 votes, with 51 going to Newton, three to Boise St. Broncos QB Kellen Moore, and two to Stanford Cardinal QB Andrew Luck.

Newton would be wise to save a spot in his crowded trophy case for a potential BCS Championship Game MVP trophy, whatever that looks like. His Tigers play the Oregon Ducks for all the crystal on Jan. 10. Earlier in awards season, Newton won the Heisman Trophy by one of the widest margins ever, plus the Davey O'Brien, Walter Camp, and Maxwell in addition to various All-America teams.

Recent AP POY winners have included Nebraska Cornhuskers DT Ndamukong Suh, Oklahoma Sooners QB Sam Bradford, Florida Gators QB Tim Tebow, and Ohio St. Buckeyes QB Troy Smith.
