Even with suspension, Terrelle Pryor shouldn’t enter NFL Draft

Terrelle Pryor is on record saying he'll return to Ohio State for his senior season.

Now that he's been suspended the first five games of 2011, should he? That's the question Pryor and juniors DeVier Posey Dan Herron, Mike Adams and Solomon Thomas.

As a pro prospect, Pryor has improved as a natural passing quarterback but still has a lot of room for growth. Mainly, his mechanics may need work and he'll have to adjust his decision making.

The Ohio State offense doesn’t ask Pryor to make a lot of pro-style reads and he can lock on to his receiver and wait for him to get open. He gets most of his passing work done to the outside, which shows he doesn’t have to work through multiple reads. Because of that, his timing may not be ready for the NFL.
He also has to do better on drop backs holding the ball high and tight. Pryor tends to drop the ball and can get it knocked out fairly easily. Pryor’s also has suspect footwork. He doesn’t always reset his feet when he has to move around the pocket and needs to plant and throw better.
All of that considered, Pryor has improved as a throwing quarterback. He’s not Cam Newton at this point and still needs another year.
But now that it will be shorter, and probably impede his growth, will he skip off to the NFL? If he does, Pryor may not get picked before fellow project quarterback
