English Premier League, Boxing Day: Two Postponements Leaves Seven Match Holiday Slate

Happy Boxing Day, everybody. Two matches are postponed. Sorry: I’m not good at breaking bad news.

Matches at Bloomfield Road and Goodison Park have been called off due to weather. Liverpool's match at Blackpool has been called off because of a frozen pitch, Bloomfield Road having no under soil heating. Everton's visit from Birmingham City will also have to be rescheduled, with Goodison Park unfit for play, many pipes in the surrounding area having frozen and burst on Christmas night.

That leaves seven matches for this year's Boxing Day festivities, fixtures which will start at 7 a.m. Eastern at Craven Cottage when Fulham hosts West Ham United in a six-pointer between the league's 17th and 20th place teams. That derby will serves as a preclude to five fixtures kicking-off at 10 a.m. Eastern, matches which will include Manchester United hosting Sunderland and Manchester City's visit to Newcastle. The day wraps-up with the 12:30 p.m. kickoff at Villa Park, Tottenham Hotspur at Aston Villa.

SB Nation Soccer will be keeping you up-to-date on all the day’s major happenings. For more on today’s matches, you can check out our weekly run-down of the weekend’s most watchable fixtures, a piece the provides mild consolation for the postponements. Neither the Blackpool nor Everton matches were ranked very high.
