Monday Night Football, Saints Vs. Falcons: NFL Playoff Picture Will Change

The Atlanta Falcons are currently the top seed in the NFC and with a victory over the New Orleans Saints they'll clinch the division and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. This game, actually, isn't that important as the Falcons can lose and still clinch the top seed and home field advantage with a win in Week 17 over the Carolina Panthers.

The Saints on the other hand need to win this game to avoid a potential win-and-you’re-in scenario in Week 17. The Saints need one more win to get in. If they lose to the Falcons on Monday Night Football, then they’re setting themselves up for a Week 17 showdown with the Bucs where a loss would eliminate the Saints.

NFL playoff scenarios aside, this is a much anticipated games because it pits the 2009 NFC champion against the team that has, all season, been the best. The Falcons are incredibly balanced as the fifth ranked offense and seventh ranked defense. The Saints are similar with the eighth ranked offense and ninth ranked defense so this game figures to be a tight one.

NFL odds say the Falcons are three point home favorites in this one which is a fair line. The Falcons have lost two games all year -- to the Steelers and Eagles -- and already own a three point road victory over the Saints.
