After a busy Monday at the MLB Winter Meetings, the baseball world got a scare very early Tuesday morning.
Jim Tracy Collapses, Taken To Hospital; Rockies Manager Responsive
Word has spread that Colorado Rockies manager Jim Tracy collapsed near the lobby elevators of the Dolphin hotel while standing with two other team coaches. Tracy was conscious and responsive by the time emergency crews arrived, but he was taken to a nearby hospital, and there is not yet any update on his condition. While the fact that he was alert soon after collapsing is encouraging, this is still a frightening episode.
Tracy is set to turn 55 years old on the last day of December. He is married and is the father of three sons, and has been the Rockies manager for the better part of two seasons after taking over for Clint Hurdle early in 2009. He also previously managed the Pirates and Dodgers, and has a lifetime record of 427-383. He has twice managed in the playoffs.
