D.J. Carrasco, Mets Agree To Two-Year Contract

The New York Mets have been fairly quiet so far this offseason, but according to Ken Rosenthal, they've gone ahead and made their first significant move.

The Mets have agreed to a two-year contract with reliever D.J. Carrasco, who was recently non-tendered by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Carrasco's being brought in to help shore up a bullpen that's already lost some significant 2010 contributors, including Hisanori Takahashi and Pedro Feliciano.

The 33-year-old Carrasco is a righty with 440.2 innings of Major League experience. He was known to have a handful of suitors after being non-tendered, as he’s kept his ERA under four for three consecutive years. He works predominantly off of a fastball, cutter, and curve, and is able to keep enough balls on the ground to avoid getting into home run trouble.
