Terrence Jones Powers No. 17 Kentucky In 72-58 Win Over Previously-Unbeaten No. 23 Notre Dame

Terrence Jones certainly bounced back from his 3-18 shooting day on Saturday against North Carolina. Jones had 29 points and 17 rebounds, leading the 16th ranked Wildcats over Notre Dame Wednesday night 72-58 at Freedom Hall in Louisville, KY. He also hit the dagger three pointer with 2:07 remaining, putting Kentucky up 8 points.

The freshman forward made 9-of-18 shots form the floor after a 3-of-17 effort in last Saturday's loss to North Carolina. Brandon Knight contributed 20 points for the Wildcats (6-2), who clamped down and held Notre Dame to 18 second-half points.

Kentucky jumped out to an early 12-6 lead at the first TV timeout, but the Irish came roaring back over the next 10 minutes, building an 11 point lead with just over 5 minutes to go in the half, 38-27. Hansbrough hit five Three-Pointers and had 19 points in that stretch. Then the Irish went ice cold, only hitting one Field Goal over the next 15 minutes of play. In that same stretch, Kentucky went on a 22-4 run, opening up a 7 point lead with 13 minutes remaining in the game.

Notre Dame cut the lead to 4 points with just under 5 minutes remaining, but a Jones 3 pointer jumped the lead back up to 7, and the Irish never got closer.

Ben Hansbrough led Notre Dame (8-1) with 21 points and Carleton Scott contributed 10 points and eight rebounds. The Fighting Irish played for the first time since downing Indiana State on November 30th.
