Milan will be without Thiago Silva and Mathieu Flamini for the next month, according to reports out of Italy. Silva, enjoying another breakout season in defense for the Rossoneri, has a tear of the medial meniscus in his right knee. Flamini as also injured a knee, suffering a tear of his medial collateral ligament. The tentative time line on each’s return is three to four weeks, per Giornale Metropolitano.

Milan currently sit in first place in Italy, three points ahead of Lazio. Fortunately for their title aspirations, Silva and Flamini's injuries coincide with a relatively easy fixture list. Between now and January 8, Milan will play at Bologna, host Roman, go to Cagliari before welcoming Udinese to the San Siro. Amongst that quartet, Roma has the highest league standing, currently sitting eighth place, 10 points behind Milan.
Milan also hosts Bari on December 12 in the Coppa Italia’s Round of 16. Milan was eliminated by Udinese in last year’s quarterfinals.
Silva, in his second full season for Milan, having made 12 Serie A appearances, starting each match. Coming off a season where he made 33 starts and recorded two goals, the 26-year-old center half had another league goal this campaign. In addition to his success in Italy, Silva has also emerged as a first choice defender for Mano Menezes and the Brazil national team.
Mathieu Flamini, also 26-years-old, has made nine league appearances for the Rossoneri, starting four times and recording one goal. The French midfielder is in his third season at the San Siro, having moved from Arsenal before the 2008-09 season. With Massimiliano Allegri settled on a four midfielder system, Flamini looked due for more playing time as the season went forward, though his current prognosis will delay those plans for only four matches.
