Hamilton more than tripled his season average of 8.5 ppg on 11-of-16 shooting, including a 5-of-8 effort from behind the arc to help the Longhorns (19-3, 5-2 Big 12) rebound from an 80-77 overtime setback against Baylor on Saturday.
Damion James posted 14 points and Avery Bradley 10 for the victors.
James Anderson paced Oklahoma State (16-6, 4-4) with 28 points, though 24 came in the first half. Matt Pilgrim had 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Obi Muonelo chipped in 12 points, as the Cowboys dropped their first contest at Gallagher-Iba Arena this season and second straight overall.
The Longhorns trailed at the half and were down 45-42 seven minutes into the second stanza before a Hamilton-led 17-4 spurt put them on top for good.
The freshman started the run with a thunderous baseline jam and made a trio of three-pointers during the five-minute stretch, which James ended on a pair of free throws for a 59-49 lead with a little over eight minutes to play.
After a blistering first half, Anderson was kept in check down the stretch, and the Cowboys didn’t have anyone step in and fill the lost production.
The closest the hosts got was eight on several occasions, the last of which coming when Marshall Moses cut the deficit to 65-57 on a layup with four minutes remaining.
Justin Mason's putback and Hamilton's three-pointer followed, and the Longhorns held on for the win, just their second in the last five games.
Anderson carried the Cowboys in the first half on 8-of-9 shooting, including a 3-for-3 effort from long distance.
The Big 12’s leading scorer had seven points on a 9-0 run midway through the opening 20 minutes, hitting a layup for a 17-10 lead with 9 1/2 minutes left.
Hamilton netted seven points in the final two minutes to get Texas within 36-32 at the break.
