Parise Says Upper Body Injury Won’t Affect His Olympic Hopes

Zach Parise was asked point blank tonight by the media if his vague upper body injury, which caused him to miss a game against the Philadelphia Flyers, would impact his chances of playing for Team USA in the Winter Olympics.

Here’s Devils’ beat writer Tom Gulitti:

Parise was a late scratch with what the team is calling an “upper-body injury”. He tested it in warm-ups, but came off after only a few minutes.

“He came out right away,” Devils coach Jacques Lemaire said. “He said he can’t go.”

Parise said after the game that he was injured in Monday’s game in Philadelphia and should be back for Friday’s home game against Nashville. When asked if the injury would jeopardize his chance to play in the Olympics, he said. “No way.”
