Carl Edwards is hoping his pregnant wife Kate waits until after the Daytona 500 to give birth.

↵The couple is awaiting their first child together, but Kate has remained home in Missouri while Carl is in Daytona preparing for the biggest race of the NASCAR season.
↵Edwards, who races for Roush Fenway Racing, said his phone has been silent and he can only hope for the best.
↵“She’s got her legs crossed, and I’ve got my fingers crossed,” he said.
