Germany, the medal leaders in the 2006 Winter Olympics, has its first gold of the Vancouver Games. Felix Loch dominated in Men’s Luge, recording the fastest time in all four runs. He set a track record on his first attempt, hitting 91.7 mph along the way, depsite the changed made to the track in efforts to slow down the competitors.

Fellow German David Moeller finished 0.679 seconds behind Loch for the silver medal.
Legend and two-time defending gold medalist Armin Zoeggeler of Italy finished third. It marks the fifth straight Olympic Games that Zoeggeler has won a medal -- he won bronze in 1994, silver in ‘98 and gold in both ‘02 and ‘06.
Tony Benshoof was America’s best finisher, coming in eighth place.
