Ryan Getzlaf Sends Message In Edmonton

Ryan Getzlaf gave Steve Yzerman a clear-cut answer on whether or not he’d be able to represent Canada in the Winter Olympics with the men’s hockey tournament beginning Tuesday. A high-ankle sprain put him out of action Saturday in Calgary and placed his roster spot in jeopardy.

↵The 24-year-old returned to face the Edmonton Oilers in the final NHL game before the Olympic break and tweaked his ankle on the very first shift. Getzlaf would be fine compiling two goals and two assists en route to a 7-3 victory for the Anaheim Ducks. And he decided to have a little fun on his second powerplay marker.

↵Playing nearly 20 minutes, taking six shots on goal and adding four points including the game-winner, Getzlaf confirmed his availability for Team Canada and has been named back onto the roster.
