Floyd Landis: Cyclist and Alleged Computer Hacker

I’d somehow almost forgotten about Floyd Landis, the one-time 2006 Tour de France winner. (You know, before he was disqualified.) Evidently Landis is still fighting the whole thing, because a judge has issued an arrest warrant for the American cyclist on Monday, according to Reuters.↵↵French judge Thomas Cassuto issued the international arrest warrant for Landis after an anti-doping computer laboratory had its computer system hacked. Some advice for Floyd: Let it go! You already had to vacate your crown, so don’t get yourself arrested on some Mission Impossible nonsense.↵

↵↵Landis lost his 2006 title after he tested positive for “excessive levels” of testosterone. An appeal that it was a “procedural mistake” by the lab was later rejected. As the details of his alleged crime come out, we’ll update this post.↵

↵↵UPDATE: Some clarification on the alleged incident as details emerge:↵

↵↵⇥“It seems that (Landis) made all he could to enter into our computer system to try to prove the laboratory was wrong. He showed many documents he got by hacking to numerous sporting instances,” French anti-doping agency head Pierre Bordry said. “The judge traced a network of hackers back to the ringleader.”↵↵↵Also, helping me reconcile this a bit in my head, the incident occurred in Sept. 2006, so it’s not like he was fighting this last weekend. Evidently he was summoned, failed to appear and then the arrest warrant was issued.↵
