Barry Melrose Puts WHAT Part of A Chicken On His Face?

Is it just me, or does ESPN’s “First Take” only make news when someone says something stupid? I honestly don’t understand who the audience is for that show. It was originally billed as Cold Pizza, which made you think it was a talk show geared toward the college kid just waking up after a long night of carousing…and watching sports, of course. But some years ago it was re-billed as “First Take,” and featured manufactured debates with the likes of Woody Paige and Skip Bayless.↵↵Once ESPN decided to run live SportsCenter during the morning, First Take became even less necessary on the ESPN sports landscape, but there it is, on ESPN2 right after “Mike and Mike in the Morning.” Again, who is watching this show?↵

↵↵Thankfully at least one person did, and they got this exchange between Jay Crawford and hockey analyst Barry Melrose about how to get rid of crow’s feet. (Maybe NSFW)↵

↵↵See, that’s a genuinely funny moment on ESPN’s air. For those who didn’t hear it, Melrose – who I’ve always liked on TV – said that to keep his face young and wrinkle-free, he uses chicken…excrement…on his face. Crawford asked him again, obviously in disbelief that Melrose would say that, and Barry repeated it. Clearly he didn’t realize the cameras were rolling. But it was still a pretty hilarious moment.↵

↵

↵Of course, ESPN had to go and ruin it with a totally unnecessary apology:↵

↵↵And yes, I Googled this particular facial treatment and couldn’t find much. There is a company in Kansas that sells lip balm called Chicken Poop, but that’s clearly not what Melrose was referencing. And there are some home remedies that suggest using egg whites on crow’s feet, but that’s the only chicken-related remedies I care to find. ↵
