Women’s Snowboard Cross Gold Goes To Canada’s Maelle Ricker, Jacobellis Fails To Qualify

Maelle Ricker has given the host country another reason to celebrate on Tuesday.

The Canadian won gold in Women’s Snowboard Cross, giving the country their second first-place finish of the Games. France’s Deborah Anthonioz took silver and Olivia Nobs of Switzerland won bronze. American Lindsey Jacobellis, the famous (infamous?) silver medalist in 2006, spun out and went off the course in the semi-finals and did not qualify for the final round.

Speaking of Jacobellis, Ricker, who led the whole race, nearly fell on the second to last jump, but held on for the win, and Olympic gold.
