After that magical moment in 1980, using the term ‘miracle’ in any sports context not involving Al Michaels or Mike Eruzione always rings a bit hollow. The story of Charlie Davies, however, isn’t about sports…but it sure is miraculous. ↵↵It’s a simple Tweet from his Verified Account that has fans of the USMNT, and followers of international soccer, tipping a cap to the miracle of modern science today. ↵
Charlie Davies Lands In France

↵↵Soccer by Ives had a note this morning that Davies underwent successful surgery to remove a bone, plate and screws from his left elbow, leaving him cleared to return to French side Sochaux for the remainder of his rehabilitation. Obviously, if rehab goes well – and it stands to reason that it will with Davies being so far ahead of schedule already – he could return to action as soon as April, which is great for his potential return to the USMNT in time for the World Cup. Obviously, Davies is a long way from the World Cup but landing in France is the next in a long line of amazing milestones. Let’s not forget, Davies was in a horrific car accident that left his body broken, and another passenger dead, just four months ago. As we explained in a post a few weeks ago, Davies has a scar across his head where doctors had to peel his face off to fix the underlying damage.↵
↵↵This is one tough kid. And seeing that simple note on Twitter of “Bonjour!!!!” had to make Americans smile.↵
