Okay, let’s throw about 15 full disclosures on the top of this post. I worked at Rutgers for more than a decade. I’m still friendly with many people up there and when I’m not writing or talking on the internet, I make a decent buck doing media guides and other projects for the athletic department of the State University of New Jersey. Oh, and that giant Red R you see on the football field, helmets and basketball court? Yeah, that’s mine.↵↵Now that we’ve got that out of the way, allow me to impartially give the folks at Rutgers Football a giant pat on the back for some forward thinking. ESPN’s Big East blog has a report that Rutgers will be broadcasting the team’s Pro Day on ScarletKnights.com…as it happens. ↵
Rutgers To Show Pro Day Live On Its Official Website

↵↵The show will air on March 10 at 2:00 PM and will include interviews with head coach Greg Schiano as well as former Scarlet Knights (scheduled to appear) Ray Rice of the Baltimore Ravens, Jeremy Zuttah of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and more. I spoke with people at Rutgers who tell me that venerable New York sportscaster Bruce Beck – who hosts their Inside Rutgers Football TV show – will be anchoring the coverage.↵

↵Rutgers, who currently list 24 players in the NFL, has had a strong recent history with getting players who participate in their Pro Day into the NFL. This year, both offensive tackle Anthony Davis – a near first-round lock – and Devin McCourty – a potential first-rounder whose twin brother, Jason, was taken by the Tennessee Titans in last year's draft – are two of 16 prospects expected to work out during the Rutgers Pro Day.↵
↵↵In recent years, several schools – including Rutgers – have put up highlight packages of their Pro Day for fans to watch online. Best I can tell, this is the first school that has announced plans to show their Pro Day coverage through their website as it’s happening. With so much coverage of the NFL Combine, and an immense amount of media at Pro Days for most major college programs, this will likely become the trend for teams to give an inside look to fans, as well as scouts and media who are unable to attend.↵
↵↵It’s a great idea by Rutgers. I’m actually jealous it wasn’t mine.↵
