Canada revenged a 2006 preliminary round loss to Switzerland tonight in Vancouver, sneaking by Jonas Hiller and company 3-2 in a shootout.
Canada Leads Switzerland 1-0 After First Period
Given the size-able talent gap between Switzerland and Canada, this shouldn’t be a 1-0 game. But when you combine Jonas Hiller, a suffocating Swiss defense and a Canadian offense that’s struggling to get to loose rebounds, that’s what you get.
Canada had three power plays in the first period, out-shot Switzerland 17-8 and controlled the puck for most of the time, but only garnered one goal out of the deal. The Swiss should consider themselves lucky at this point.
