Kelly Clarks Leads Trio Of Americans Looking For Gold In Women’s Halfpipe
Kelly Clark led a total of four Americans into the finals of Women’s Halfpipe on Thursday, three of which will be looking for Olympic gold under the lights on Cypress Mountain.
Australia’s Torah Bright had the highest score in qualifying, throwing down a run of 45.8, but a trio of Americans were right behind her, and now will look for an unprecedented podium sweep.
Clark, the 2002 gold medalist, was the highest qualifying American, followed by Hannah Teter, the 2006 gold medalist, and then Gretchen Bleiler, the 2006 silver medalist. The final four runs of the halfpipe will be must-see TV, indeed.
A fourth snowboarder from the U.S., Elena Hight, a 20-year old who finished sixth in Torino, also qualified for the finals, in 10th position.
