Understatement Of The Month: Deron Williams Is Not Happy With Utah

File this under “things you don’t want to hear coming from your team’s superstar.” From Ross Siler of the Salt Lake City Tribune, Utah Jazz PG Deron Williams reacts to yesterday’s trade, which sent Ronnie Brewer to Memphis:

↵

↵

"I think if we’d make a trade it would be something a little different than that. You look at all the teams that are getting better around the West and we essentially get worse, if you ask me."

↵

"That’s why I signed a three-year deal.”

↵

↵And while this is all happening in the heat of the moment and you’d have to think that things will cool down… Thems is fightin’ words. Especially the contract stuff. He signed a 3-year contract extension instead of a longer deal, apparently to retain flexibility in case things went south. Of course, none of that was ever explicitly stated, because people just don’t say those things.

↵Saying it out loud sort of brings things to a new level. Like telling your girlfriend, “See? This is why we didn’t move in together. Co-sign a lease with you? I’m crazy, but not that crazy!”

↵Maybe “Deron Williams, Utah Jazz” isn’t forever.
