Josh Cribbs is inching closer and closer to getting paid. League sources tell Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer that a new contract between Cribbs and the Browns could be completed by the end of next week.
Cribbs Deal Could Be Done By Next Week
Haggling points include the amount of guaranteed money and escalators.
As we told you this week, Cribbs is looking for $10 million in guaranteed money while the Browns would like to see that number at $5 million.
In addition to that, the two sides are not close on escalators, according to Cabot. The escalators tied to Cribbs’ performance on the field such as catches, Pro Bowls and touchdowns.
Cribbs is currently under contract for three more years at about $1 million per year. He would like to see that per-year number jump to $4-5 million.
