Swimmer Michael Phelps, who is arguably the greatest American Olympian of all time, visited the Winter Games in Vancouver on Thursday. While there, Phelps declared that the 2012 London Olympics will be his last.
Michael Phelps: 2012 Olympics Will Be My Last
↵↵“I told myself I will not swim over the age of 30, and I will NOT swim over the age of 30,” he said.
↵↵I like to imagine that Phelps is disappointed that swimming isn’t incorporated into the Winter Games. He’d traveled to Vancouver after months of swimming in pools filled with ice cubes to gear up for the event. Upon being told that swimming is not a Winter Olympics event, a dejected Phelps trudged out of the room, dragging his thermal deep-sea survival suit behind him and gingerly embracing his jug of Hawaiian shaved ice syrup.
