Spike TV Greenlights A Show Mocking The Philandering of Tiger Woods

It was just a matter of time before a TV show came out of this mess. Spike TV – there’s a shock – has greelighted a pilot called “Back Nine” about a former U.S. Open champion who is trying to reclaim his glory days by playing in small-time tournaments in an effort to qualify for the pro golf tour once again. Oh, and this washed up golfer has a caddy who travels around with him. The caddy’s name is Tiger. He has a sex addiction. Hilarity ensues.

John Schneider, best known as Bo Duke from "The Dukes of Hazzard," is set to star as Ronnie Barnes, the aforementioned pro looking to get his career back. An actor named Miguel Nunez is in negotiations to play "Tiger." Here's an interesting nugget about the timing of this project, via The Hollywood Reporter:

⇥Spike put the “Back Nine” script on the fast track almost a year ago. The sex-addict Tiger-named character was part of that early script and preceded by more than a year Woods’ November car crash that opened the floodgates to allegations about his extramarital affairs. He’s been writing the show

for them

and they didn’t even know!

Honestly, how easy will this show be to write? One week, “Tiger” picks up a waitress at a Perkins restaurant. The next week, he’s seen with a cocktail waitress or two (or seven). I can’t wait until the very special episode of “Back Nine” when Tiger finds out he got a porn star pregnant. Will they keep the baby? Tune in to find out!Spike isn’t the only media company trying to capitalize on Tiger’s story. There are books on top of books on top of books in the works on this situation. FoxSports.com columnist Robert Lusetich has a book called “Unplayable: An Inside Account of Tiger’s Most Tumultuous Season,” while Steve Helling from People magazine has a book called, “Tiger Woods” coming out even sooner. And in three weeks, publishers are pushing a book called “The Tiger Woods Syndrome,“ which talks about cheating and husbandry and whatever else they think they can smack a Ph.D. in front of to sell books about a rich and famous golfer’s personal life and how it translates to the average couple.

It’s only a matter of time before someone writes a book about all the people writing books about this. Wait a minute…making money writing an unauthorized story about the people who are making money by writing unauthorized stories about Woods? I call dibs.
