Women’s Super G: Austria’s Fischbacher Wins Gold, Vonn Takes Bronze

On Saturday, American Lindsey Vonn’s impressive Super-G run wasn’t good enough to top Andrea Fischbacher of Austria. Vonn, who was aiming to win all speed skiing events in the 2010 Games, ended up with a bronze medal.

Fischbacher finished with a time of 1:20.14. Tina Maze of Slovenia, a relative underdog in the event, won the silver medal by finishing 0.49 seconds behind. Vonn ended the event 0.74 seconds behind.

This is the 21st medal of the Games for the United States, which still leads in the overall medal count.
