Women’s Biathlon: Germany Takes Gold, Bronze

On Sunday afternoon, the Women’s Biathlon 12.5km Mass Start ended with two Germans ready to stand on the podium. Germany’s Magdalena Neuner finished first with a 35:19.6 time, while countrymate Simone Hauswald finished 7.3 seconds behind to take the bronze.

Olga Zaitseva of Russia finished with the silver. She was 5.5 seconds away from becoming the second Russian of the day to win a biathlon gold medal. Earlier Sunday, Russia’s Etveny Utsyugov won the gold in the men’s biathlon event.

No Americans competed in this event.
