Josh Barnett Misses CSAC Appeal Yet Again
Josh Barnett’s appeal to the California State Athletic Commission has been delayed for the fourth time and won’t be heard until the commission’s next meeting on April 20.
The commission delayed the appeal when Barnett, 32, failed to appear at an official commission meeting today in Los Angeles. Barnett’s lawyer, Michael DiMaggio, spoke on behalf of Barnett and was denied a request to continue without the fighter.
Why did Josh miss the appeal? He was busy with a pro-wrestling match against Bob Sapp in Japan of course!
At some point Barnett has to prove that he is serious about getting his suspension lifted and show up at the appeal, with all documentation and everything requested. Even if the appeal gets denied that would present a much better appearance for Josh than what he has going now, which is the appearance of someone with something to hide.
Barnett claims that he is clear to fight anywhere but California and hopes to fight in the U.S. again this year, but most commissions respect the suspensions handed down by others which could, in theory, present some issues for Barnett down the road.
