Nate Ryan of USA Today wrote this morning that Jeff Gordon plans to race for another five to six years, according to Gordon’s stepfather John Bickford.
Jeff Gordon Isn’t Quitting Anytime Soon
↵The story says Gordon wants to continue driving longer so his children – 2-year-old Ella and a baby due this summer – can appreciate their father’s success.
↵Gordon is quoted in the story as saying:
↵↵“I’ve always said I don’t want to race for the money. I really want my family to be able to be a part of it in a way that they can see and experience and be proud of what I’ve done.”
↵↵Along with Dale Earnhardt Jr.‘s recent revelation that he could drive at least another 10 years, Gordon sticking around means NASCAR’s two biggest stars won’t be leaving the sport anytime soon.
↵And for a sport that has been struggling for star power at times, that can only be a good thing.
