America’s Jeret “Speedy” Peterson pulled off his “Hurricane” -- a jump with five spins and three somersaults -- but it wasn’t enough to best Alexel Grishin of Belarus, who edged him by 1.20 points for the gold medal Thursday night in Men’s Aerials.

Peterson is the only skier who does anything like his “Hurricane,” and he was rewarded for his risky move tonight, earning the highest score awarded in the finals -- a 128.62 -- but Grishin’s two jumps were more technically sound, giving him the higher total score.
Grishin adds the gold to his bronze won in 2002.
Liu Zhongqing of China took bronze.
American Ryan St. Onge finished fourth.
