After America’s Lindsey Vonn failed to finish the women’s slalom medal round on Friday, Germany’s Maria Riesch claimed the gold. This is Germany’s tenth gold medal of the Vancouver Winter Olympics, and the country’s 28th medal overall.
Germany’s Riesch Takes Gold In Women’s Slalom
Riesch finished with a time of 1:42.89. 0.43 seconds behind was Marlies Schild of Austria. The Czech Republic’s Sarka Zahrobska finished 1.01 seconds behind to take the bronze.
Team USA’s best showing was courtesy of Sarah Schleper, who finished 2.99 seconds behind -- good for 16th place.
