Short Track: Apolo Ohno Disqualified In Medal Round, Canada Wins Gold, Bronze

Friday night’s short track finals concluded with a collision and a disqualification. During the final heat, three of the four participants took a spill. The judges ruled that USA’s Apolo Anton Ohno was responsible, and he was disqualified. Here’s a photo:

After the incident, Canada came away with two medals: Charles Hamelin won gold, and Francis-Louis Tremblay took the bronze. South Korea’s Si-Bak Sung won the silver.

Si-Bak Sung’s medal coupled with Apolo Ohno’s disqualification ought to make a lot of people in South Korea happy, given Ohno’s reputation in South Korea of being a dirty competitor.
